On Wednesday evening, the Cambridges attended David Attenborough’s film premiere at the Natural History Museum in London. Wearing her black lace Alice Temperley dress for the third time, Kate looked relaxed and magnificent….even when she had to put on her 3D glasses!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stopped by the South Africa house in Trafalgar Square on Wednesday to pay their respects to Nelson Mandela.
Prince William presented medals to recently returned Irish Guards from Afghanistan; the Duke is a Colonel of the regiment.
“When Kate and William prepared to attend the Royal premiere of a film chronicling the remarkable life of Nelson Mandela yesterday evening they could not have known the significance the evening would come to hold…But as the two watched the film, alongside the Zindzi Mandela, daughter of the South African leader, news came in that 95-year-old Mandela had died peacefully at home.” – Deborah Arthurs, Daily Mail, 12/6/2013

After being informed of the former South African leader’s death, Prince William made a brief statement as the Daily Mail reports below:
“William and Kate looked ashen-faced as they walked down the stairs into the foyer. Speaking as he left the Odeon cinema, the Duke said: ‘I just wanted to say it’s extremely sad and tragic news. We were just reminded what an extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. It’s very sad.’ ”

For the first time since her wedding, the Duchess of Cambridge donned a tiara at tonight’s Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace. Senior royals including the Queen and Prince Charles were on hand along with the Cambridges to greet representatives from 172 foreign missions currently accredited to the Court of St. James’s in London.
The Queen loaned the tiara to the Duchess for the state occasion; the Papyrus Tiara was once owned by the Queen Mother and most recently by the Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret.
Too bad no official photos were released from the event but rumors are that the Duchess is wearing one of her favorite brands, Alexander McQueen.

Prince William visited Sunderland and South Shields as patron of the Centrepoint charity, a charity focused on helping the homeless youth. At the main office, the second in line to the throne participated in a cooking lesson as well as spoke to those who the charity has helped about youth homelessness and employment.

Prince William also officially opened the Haven Point leisure center in South Shields. He observed a swim lesson, spoke with local swimmers, and watched water survival training and resuscitation.
His final event of the day was attending a Diana Award Inspire Day. There he spoke to 30 young people taking part in workshops on anti-bullying and employability skills.
Per BBC royal correspondent, Peter Hunt, the Queen pulled out of today’s investiture ceremony at the last minute due to “minor discomfort” in her ankle. In her place, Prince William knighted 67-year-old comedian and actor, Tony Robinson. Apparently Sir Robinson got the future monarch to agree to a cameo in Blackadder if it ever were brought back for a new season. From the BBC:
“I said to him ‘would you be prepared to be in it?’ He said ‘yes’ like a shot,” Sir Tony said.
“I managed to do a bit of casting while he was awarding my knighthood. I think that is probably a first,” he added.
