The Race is On!

Friday afternoon brought one of the more active and fun visits that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have participated in since being in New Zealand….they faced off against each other in Waitemata Harbour, near Auckland, in Emirates Team New Zealand Americas Cup yachts. The Duchess was 2/2, beating her husband in both races. According to @FrancesCook, when Kate and William met back on land, she laughed and said “I’m sorry!” while William claimed they were sabotaged.

Their appearance was not met without some protest, a plane flew overhead with a sign “Time for a Kiwi head of state”…..

The Cambridges Unveil New Queen Elizabeth II Portrait in NZ

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge unveiled a new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at the Government House in Wellington on Thursday evening. The Duchess looked radiant in a Jenny Packham dress which was hand stitched with silver beading to represent New Zealand’s national emblem – a silver fern. Check out pictures below!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Visit Blenheim

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute to veterans while visiting Blenheim on Thursday (16-hour time difference from the US east coast). They jointly lay a wreath at the town’s war memorial. The clock tower commemorates those from Marlborough Province who died in the First and Second World Wars.

Afterwards, the couple spoke with veterans as well as the many royal watchers, including many children dressed in crowns.

Prince George’s First Official Public Engagement…

….thousands miles away from home with a bunch of strangers with cameras surrounding. The little prince might as well start getting used it now. The little Cambridge stole hearts, and toys, today during his appearance at the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society at the Government House in Wellington.

Cambridges Arrive at Government House for Plunket Engagement

The Cambridges arrived at the Government House in Wellington ahead of their engagement with the Plunket Society (21:36 Boston on Tuesday, 13:36 Wellington on Wednesday). According to Max Foster at CNN, a royal source has stated that the Duke and Duchess are in good spirits and spent the earlier part of the day relaxing at Wharekauhau Lodge. More to come tomorrow morning!

Touchdown in Wellington!

Around noontime on Monday, the Cambridges and their entourage touched down in Wellington after more than 24 hours of flying.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were then driven to the Government House, the office residence of New Zealand’s Governor-General for a 30-minute welcoming ceremony called a powhiri.
