According to E! News, a slice of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding cake was auctioned off by Julien’s Auctions for a whopping $4,160! The eight-tier traditional spiced fruit cake was created by pastry chef Fiona Cairns and included raisins, walnuts, cherries, lemon, cherries, grated orange, and French Brandy. As is customary, the Cambridges served the top tier following Prince George’s christening. As Cairns told Hello!, “We were always told that the cake would be saved for the future so we did assume [it would be served for their firstborn child’s christening]…It’s always been a tradition and that’s why the cake was fruitcake, because after 30 months, it’s even more delicious.”
